For anyone living in the Highfields area, put the evening of May 27th in your diary.
The plan for that evening is to pull together people interested in getting involved in a new project to make Highfields a more resilient and (literally) greener community to live in. The idea is to fill the area with as much urban food production and green space as can be squeezed in (in front yards, unused plots, roofs, facades and more), making it a healthier and more pleasant place to be, and reducing the area’s carbon emissions at the same time.
The meeting is scheduled from 6.30pm until 8pm at the Highfields Community Centre on Melbourne Road. If you’re interested in coming along or hearing more about this initiative, drop a line to Ziyaad Lorgat on lorgatziyaad AT gmail.com or Andrew Reeves on areeves AT ruralcc.org.uk.
