18th September: Stand up against poverty and for sustainability in Leicester city centre

A message from Raheema Caratella from the St. Philip’s Multi Faith centre, looking for volunteers for a stall in Leicester city centre on September 18th…

My name is Raheema Caratella, I work as the youth engagement worker at the St.Philip’s Centre, I would like to inform you of our next event called STAND up against POVERTY.

The Leicester Interfaith youth HUB members would like to invite you/young volunteers to a mini event in the city centre on the 18th of September from 11-4pm talking to members of the public and raising awareness about all the Millennium Development Goals. Your organisation inparticular contributes to MDG 7, which is Environmental sustainability.

We believe all your organisations are continually striving to make a difference and raise awareness, therefore it would be great to have you on one of our stalls on the day alternatively if you could provide various literature about the great work you do, we could pass it on to members of the public on the day.
During the event we will be giving out flyers, selling t-shirts, wristbands (STAND UP campaign related), have interactive activities for kids like badge making and face painting to attract a crowd. On the hour every hour we will crouch down and then STAND UP together. This will show that the people of Leicester can stand up together against global poverty. The HUB will also be doing a conga line and get people moving, laughing and enjoying the event.

Please let me know availability of staff or more about literature and leaflets. For more info, call 0116 2733459, 07742 040929 or email  r.caratella AT stphilipscentre.co.uk
