4th December: A Celebration of the Work of Stewart Charles

Stewart Charles, who died earlier this year, was well-known around Leicester for making films to promote local cycling and much more besides. Come along to a celebration of his work this weekend…

An exhibition celebrating the life and work of Leicester film-maker and photographer – Stewart Charles – will raise funds for the British Lung Foundation. An evening of short film, photography and live music takes place from 6pm on Saturday 4th December at Phoenix Square.

Stewart recently died after a lengthy battle with cancer. He leaves behind a son, partner Nicola and a reputation as one of Leicester’s and the East Midlands’ most inspirational photographers and film-makers.

The fund-raiser evening organised by Stewart’s family and friends begins with a short film selection. Including ‘The Cull’ (2010) – Stewart’s last film – made with up and coming Director Tom Whitworth and featuring one of the UK’s most exciting actors – Stephen Graham.

The film screening will be accompanied by a photographic exhibition and live music in the Phoenix Square Lounge from The Slowdown Boys.
