Green Light Festival Open Coordination Meeting Tuesday 24th January – ALL WELCOME!

5pm for 5.30 start – the Blue Room in Queens Building of De Montfort University (on the first floor of Queens Building, at the end of the wobbly glass walkway then it’s the door on the right opposite the ladies toilets – call if you get lost!).

We, the organisers of the budding new Green Light Festival of Sustainability, would like to extend to you an invitation to join one of our core group meetings. With only three months till the big day (Sat 31st March), we’ve lots of exciting things to do and dreaming to distribute between our somewhat humble team of organisers.

We’ve drawn up a list of things we’d love to happen, and we’re open to suggestions from people who might be able to contribute in an organisers’ capacity. So if you’ve got the skills and the interest to help us out a bit, please come along and see what we’ve been up to and what’s ahead!

Call Jessie on 07969256046 or email jessicamarycooke@yahoo.co.uk to let us know you’d like to attend or for more information. Look forward to seeing you there!

Green Light festival a big success!

Our first ever Green Light festival, which took place on Saturday 12th February 2011, was a big success. See below our first write-up of what happened – much more to follow via the Green Light website http://www.greenlightfestival.org.

For anyone interested in helping make the festival happen next year, check out our programme of events for Feb to May 2011 (via the front page of our website) and come along to an initial meeting on March 30th.

A short review from our post-event press release is below…

Green Light Shines on Festival Success!

Festival Update

Transition Leicester’s festival is set for 12th February 2011 at De Montfort University. The next open planning meeting is on Friday 5th November at 10am in the Queens Building at De Montfort University.

We’re still looking for anyone who wants to help out with any aspect of organisation or on the day itself – there’s a great deal to do, from organising photos/filming, choosing films to show, booking people for workshops or booking artists to perform.

Contact us on info AT transitionleicester.org.uk or call Andrew on 07848 007786 if you’re interested in getting involved, and put the date in your diary!

Transition Leicester’s Festival of Sustainable Living has a date!

A group of Transition Leicester volunteers has been busy making plans for a city-wide festival of sustainable living for early 2011.

We’ve now got a date confirmed – Saturday February 12th 2011, and we’ve pencilled in De Montfort University as a venue. We’re now looking for people to get involved with organising the event and with offering stalls and workshops on the day. Get in touch with us on info AT transitionleicester.org.uk or call Louise on 07773 353 482 to find out more about how you could get involved, or to join the festival planning group.

Spring 2011: Transition Leicester Festival – get involved!

Transition Leicester is beginning to plan a big one-day festival, which we’re looking to hold early next year  (likely to be in early February). The idea is to work with local community groups and put on a diverse mix of practical workshops, talks, performances and discussions to promote Transition Leicester and encourage more involvement and new initiatives.
We’ve set up a small group of people to co-ordinate the event and will be looking for more support as things progress. If you would like to help with co-ordination, have any suggestions, or would be keen to help out in any way, please do let us know! In particular, we’re looking for:
  • Individuals/groups to help with parts of the organisation
  • People who’d like to offer workshops/stalls/etc
  • Ideas for what you’d love to see happen
We’re in the beginning stages, but things are already moving along quickly and we’re sure to need a lot more keen hands as things develop!
If you’re interested in joining us, please contact Transition Leicester on info AT transitionleicester.org.uk or call Andrew Reeves on 07848 007786.
